Total Structures has the Motor City covered

If this year’s auto show displays are any indication of the industry’s health, then it’s a good time to be in the car business. Helping to build that image again this year, Total Structures has provided support and manufacturing for Detroit’s big three.

For the sixth year in a row, Ford Motor Company has built their main display for the North American Auto Show from the display system first delivered in 2006. Due to the modular nature of the design, the mother grid and wall systems can be reconfigured every year with the addition of a few new components. This approach to display systems has allowed the car company to keep their displays up to date without a huge cost to bear every year. Thanks to the forethought put into the original project, Total Structures can easily produce new components every year on a very tight schedule, giving the customers more flexibility in their display to keep current with today’s exhibit trends.

Over at General Motors, the story is similar. Continuing our long standing relationship, Total Structures provided design services and new components for the ceiling system in the GM display. Though custom in final execution, the components of this grid are based on standard products, allowing new part production to be completed much faster than full custom components.

For the team at Chrysler, this year marked the rollout of a new look for all show operations covering all of their brands. Designed as a system which can be used for smaller events as well as the larger displays used on the auto show circuit, the new systems are designed to install quickly and easily while being able to be rebranded for special events. The largest display units are produced to ship in a few components, assembling via large guide rods. Complete setup can be completed by a small crew in just a few hours. This flexibility allows the carmaker to use these displays at short term events where traditional display systems would take too long to install.
